Uncover the beauty of western Sicily on our private shore excursion from Palermo to Erice, Segesta and Trapani. This trip offers a delightful mix of ancient Greek ruins, charming medieval architecture and stunning coastal scenery.
The first stop on our tour is Segesta, where a magnificent Greek temple awaits. Built back in 430 BC, this Doric-style gem is impressively well-preserved. The temple features 36 striking limestone columns that shine brightly in the Sicilian sun. Walking around the site gives you a real feeling of classical greatness. You can also visit the ancient theater on Monte Barbaro for breathtaking views of the countryside.
Next stop is Erice, a medieval town known for its cobblestone streets, panoramic views and rich history. Here, we explore the Castle of Venere, a 12th-century Norman castle dedicated to Venus Erycina, the Roman goddess of love. The site offers stunning views of the Trapani coastline and the Egadi Islands. While in Erice, we stop by a quaint pastry shop to enjoy some of the famous Sicilian marzipan and almond pastries.
Next up on our tour is Trapani, a lovely coastal city famous for its historic port and the picturesque Salt Way Road. Along this route, you’ll see the traditional salt pans, where sea salt has been harvested for generations. The combination of these shallow basins, windmills and flamingos paints a landscape that seems almost otherworldly. The reflection of the red sun on the blue sea and white salt flats creates an enchanting atmosphere.
